Terms of Service
This page is the plain-language terms for using Cognisentum during its pilot. It exists alongside the Terms of the Count (the specific consent you give when you take a seat), quoted in full below.
Who we are
Cognisentum operates as The Census: an anonymous institution, not a company with named public officers. The platform is what speaks here. No individual is presented as its voice, and no person moderates or overrides a session's score by hand.
Who can take a seat
You must be eighteen or older to register and take a seat. Age is self-attested at signup; we run no identity verification in the pilot. A false attestation violates these terms and is grounds for closing an account.
How earnings are paid
Participation never requires payment from you: running targets is free at every score, and money on Cognisentum moves only toward readers. What a qualified reader earns accrues as pending earnings, denominated in US dollars, from the day their score crosses 600. Pending earnings become withdrawable at monthly payout runs: balances under $100 roll over, and the full payment terms and current rates are published on the Earnings page. Rates follow market conditions and can change; the rates in force when a target is completed apply. Nothing here is a promise of income: no rating, band, or session outcome guarantees future earnings.
The Terms of the Count
This is the exact text every reader accepts, verbatim, before recording a first session. It is the platform's binding consent, not a summary of it.
I.What this is.
Cognisentum is an open experiment, built on a genuinely open question. For five decades, controlled laboratory studies have reported results above chance; recent meta-analyses find hit rates meaningfully beyond what luck predicts. Mainstream science is not yet convinced. Measuring it cleanly, at scale, in the open: that is what this platform is for. Your sessions are scored by a frozen, automated judge. Honest sessions often score in the ordinary range; that is the instrument working, not failing.
II.What we take.
Your voice is transcribed the moment you speak and never stored. No recording of you exists anywhere. We keep your words: the transcripts, their timestamps, and their scores, permanently, as the audit trail of the count. If you delete your account, your identity is erased; your transcripts remain, anonymous, part of the record.
III.Where it goes.
Targets are posted and funded by requesters. They remain anonymous to you, as you remain anonymous to them. Your descriptions and scores are delivered to the requesters who fund them, for their own purposes, including commercial ones. You will never be told what a target's image represented. Neither will anyone else.
A note for the current pilot: quick-mode sessions are tap-only. No audio is recorded at any point, so Part II's zero-audio promise is already exceeded rather than merely honored.
What your sessions are used for
Sessions you seal contribute to Cognisentum's aggregated research and foresight-evidence work. What any single target represents stays opaque to you, permanently and by design, because that opacity is the method's integrity rather than a withheld convenience. This purpose applies at the level of the whole platform; it says nothing about, and does not lift the seal on, any individual target.
Your account
You can close your account at any time from Settings (see the Privacy Policy for exactly what erasure does and doesn't remove). We may suspend or close an account that violates these terms, attempts to game the instrument, or falsifies its age attestation. We do not deactivate accounts for low scores. Score is diagnostic, never disciplinary.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the pilot evolves. Material changes update the effective date above; continuing to use Cognisentum after a change means you accept it.
